Strinsel

Tinsel epitomises Christmas. On the one hand, it's a gorgeous thing that drapes and glitters and sparkles. On the other, it's a mass-produced PVC horror show that many are glad to sacrifice to landfill come January.

Inspired by the spiky off-snips of string from my other projects, I may have come up with a sustainable solution.

Strinsel – string tinsel made by me from cotton or jute twine and 100% cotton thread.

Each 2-metre strand is handmade in small batches here in the UK by, er, me? The original Plain Cotton Strinsel hangs like snow on a branch whilst the jute-based Strinsel catches the light beautifully, creating an iridescent shimmer without even a mention of plastic. From soft pastels to eye-popping neons, deep forest greens to disco-ready brights, there's a Strinsel for every celebration.

Drape it, twist it, keep it. This is tinsel that lasts.
