I make things out of string.
Things that have purpose, add colour & texture, made with traditional techniques. Hand-knitted homewares, tree toppers, accessories and my very own take on tinsel—Strinsel. Every item is unique and entirely plastic-free.
I work from the middle room of my home in Nottingham, UK. Sometimes downstairs, frequently on car journeys, occasionally on a train. Read more about my journey here.

Origin: Formed within English, by derivation, 2021. Etymons: string n., tinsel n.
Proprietary name for a garland resembling PVC tinsel, made from biodegradable materials including cotton and jute twine. Manufactured by founder Polly (AKA This Thing is String) at her home in Nottingham, UK.
